Sichuan showcase event gaining global reputation for inlucsiveness. A total of 28,000 entants from 54 countries and regions started the second edition of the Dongfeng Nissan Chengdu International Marathon in Sichuan province on Saturday (Oct. 27), competing for 160,000 yuan. The event was organized by the Chinese Athletic Association, Chengdu municipal people's government and Wanda Sports.
According to the Chinese Athletics Association, nearly 5 million people took part in 1,102 registered running events in China last year (2017) - nearly 20 times the 2014 number. However, none of those events matched the standard or attractiveness of AWMM (the Abbott World Marathron Majors) .
